1. Dude (Cheryl Woodson)
“My husband and I adopted Dude in June and we were frantically trying to decide what to name him and we couldn’t seem to agree on a name. I wanted to name him Wally and my husband wanted to name him Fred. Then Dude got under my husband’s feet and he said “Hey Dude, you’re in my way!” And, we just both looked at each other and started laughing … and we knew that he was definitely the “Dude.” The name is perfect for our one-year old 14-pound feline. Also, he’s just a very funny cat and when he hears “Hey Dude!” he comes running — he’s sort of like a dog only smarter.”
2. Velcro (Jean Meyer)
“Velcro, now 16 years old, was named by my son when he was a tiny kitten. Whenever anyone walked by him they suddenly had a very small kitten clinging to their pant leg. He clung until you physically removed him! Heaven forbid you had bare legs, because he still tried to become “velcroed” to the leg that passed him!”
3. Breakfast (Alison Kuntz)
“I had her awhile and couldn’t think of a name for her. She was a beautiful part Siamese kitten that was so quirky. Finally a friend of mine said, “If a dog came to your house in the morning he would say ‘Look, there’s breakfast’ so that should be her name.” So it stuck and it fit her so well.”
4. Peanut Pigpen TwoCents (Cheryl Dare)
“My veterinarian brought in a tiny kitten someone at his gym had found at a construction site. The kitten was so tiny we all started calling him Peanut. After it became apparent to me, the morning cage-cleaner, that every night he thoroughly TRASHED his cage (I now recognize it as separation anxiety) I added Pigpen. Then one day when it was slow, we had him out, playing with him and somebody commented he “wasn’t worth two cents”, that got added. I soon adopted him myself.”
