Nancy James:
A black stray cat was dropped off at her place years ago, which she took in. Unfortunately, the cat was a curious little guy who somehow managed to wedge himself in her basement shower between the wall and the shower floor. Nancy thought she might have to call 911 or the firefighters because she couldn’t get him out. He got in there easily enough but could not turn around to get out. She pulled on his legs with no luck. She then grabbed his tail, felt him go limp, and was able to yank him free. Needless to say, he is not allowed in the basement any more!
Jana Knight:
Jana has feral cats that live in her neighborhood. One day she looked out the window and saw a kitten running around with a Mayonnaise jar stuck on its head. The poor cat was running in circles and trying desperately to get the jar off. Jana lives near a busy highway, and was afraid the kitten was going to run into traffic. She managed to catch the kitten, remove the jar, and now that cat is part of her family. Jana recycles household goods and encourages anyone who recycles to make sure that Mayonnaise jars are rinsed clean and if you recycle the plastic from soda cans, make sure you tear the rings apart. Many animals unfortunately get caught in our recyclables.
Patrick Rego:
While Patrick doesn’t have a cat horror story, he has a dog one, and he won a ScoopFree for a stray cat that showed up at his door. Patrick was walking his friend’s dog when a cat appeared. The dog broke loose and took off. The cat ran under a car and the dog followed. The cat escaped, but the car took off and ran over the dog. When Patrick yelled at the driver, he stopped and backed up, only to run over the dog a second time. When Patrick continued to yell, you guessed it; the car took off and ran over the dog a third time. Patrick doesn’t know if the driver was drunk or was just frightened by all of the yelling. The dog was taken to the emergency room where x-rays showed several broken bones. A couple of thousand dollars later, the dog is as good as new – but Patrick is no longer walking him!
Yvonne Schmidt:
She has an Egyptian Mau named Cleopatra and she gets scared at some crazy things, but one day on a Domino’s Pizza add when they ring the doorbell Cleopatra jumped straight into the air and started running before she hit the ground. She took off so fast Yvonne didn’t know what had happened. She thinks Cleo lost 3 lives that evening — and then Yvonne lost a few lives, too because people where coming to the door and later that evening and she could not find Cleopatra anywhere. Yvonne thought she ran out the door and had lost her for ever. Her boyfriend came home and they started looking for her all over. Finally they found Cleo inside the back of her sofa. She ripped a hole in the fabric and crawled inside the couch and hid there till she felt safe. What a night. Everyone is doing fine now and Cleo has gotten used to the doorbell finally.
Teresa Stroupe:
Her cat PJ, who sadly is no longer with them, was always getting into things as a kitten. One day they couldn’t find her. Later that day her daughter opened the refrigerator door and there sitting on a shelf was PJ! She was fine. They don’t know how long she was in three or how it happened. Little PJ used up one of her 9 lives that day.
